Create a Resource Structure
Prerequisites
- Calendar, rate, and resource structures are unique to each project or they are global structures projects can share. Create the related calendar structure and rate structure before you create a new resource structure. See Create a Calendar Structure or Copy a Calendar Structure and Create a Rate Structure or Copy a Rate Structure.
- If you intend to add user defined codes or fields to the resources, consider defining the codes or fields before you create your resource structure. You can also add them once you have created the structure. See Add Resource User Fields.
- Select in the Navigation Menu. The Manage Resources tab window displays.
- Click in the Ribbon Menu.
- Name tab. Enter a and .
- For the structure , select either or from the dropdown.
- Optional. If you are setting up a new global resource structure projects can share, check the box.
- Select the related from the dropdown.
- Optional. When the user defined codes or fields you want to add to resource structure have already been established, follow the steps to Add Resource User Fields.

Click in the Ribbon Menu.
Tips:
If you have checked the Global box, once you click Save in the Ribbon Menu, the Global boxes are automatically set for the related calendar and rate structures.
You can change the Global setting at any time. Simply uncheck the Global box and click Save in the Ribbon Menu. This clears the Global settings for the resource structures as well as the related calendar and rate structures.
What to Do Next
Once you have created your resource structure:
- Configure the set of calculation results for the resource structure. See Configure Resource Results.
- Optional. If you have added a resource code user field to the resource structure, verify the codes you need are entered into the code structure.
- Enter your resources and set the rate calculations for the detail level resources. See Add Resources and Set Resource Calculations.
